I Love My Arsenal
Another season has just ended and Arsenal again finished without
any silverware but I think the team can build on their superlative
displays last season, some of which included leading the premiership
for a long time, demolishing Milan at the San Siro among many others,
and mount an even more formidable campaign next season.
Too much has been said about Mr. Wenger's experimentation with
youth over the last couple of seasons with many alleging that
he's lost the plot.
I do have a contrary opinion though.
It was the same experimentation that brought the likes of Vieira,
Henry,Ljungberg,Pires etc, all relatively fringe and obscure players
at their previous clubs and molded them into such a magnificient and
formidable team feared all around Europe.
All of these players eventually departed to various other clubs and
it can be argued that they have never again found the kind of form
and fluidity that made them household names at Arsenal.(Are u
listening Messers Flamini & Hleb?)
Fabregas has finally come of age, winning the PFA young player of the
year in the process. Adebayor crossed the 20goal mark,Walcott put in
some fine displays,Eduardo was brilliant and unfortunate to have had his season cut short by that sickening tackle. Bacary Sagna,Flamini,Hleb, Rosicky and a
host of others all showed potential which only leaves me salivating for
what's to come next season.
Admittedly, the team let in one too many goals which evntually took its toll.
I keep wondering how the season would have turned out if we'd not conceded
that penalty in the final seconds @ birmingham and also secured a draw @
stamford brigde and Old trafford.
Now that Flamini's gone and Hleb's also rumoured to be one his way out,
I do hope Wenger has identified adequate replacements for them, with an
added 3 to 4 players to boost overall squad strenght.
Next season promises to be exciting and I just can't wait for it to start.
Up GUNNERZ!!!
