I Love My Arsenal

Another season has just ended and Arsenal again finished without
any silverware but I think the team can build on their superlative
displays last season, some of which included leading the premiership
for a long time, demolishing Milan at the San Siro among many others,
and mount an even more formidable campaign next season.

Too much has been said about Mr. Wenger's experimentation with
youth over the last couple of seasons with many alleging that
he's lost the plot.

I do have a contrary opinion though.
It was the same experimentation that brought the likes of Vieira,
Henry,Ljungberg,Pires etc, all relatively fringe and obscure players
at their previous clubs and molded them into such a magnificient and
formidable team feared all around Europe.

All of these players eventually departed to various other clubs and
it can be argued that they have never again found the kind of form
and fluidity that made them household names at Arsenal.(Are u
listening Messers Flamini & Hleb?)

Fabregas has finally come of age, winning the PFA young player of the
year in the process. Adebayor crossed the 20goal mark,Walcott put in
some fine displays,Eduardo was brilliant and unfortunate to have had his season cut short by that sickening tackle. Bacary Sagna,Flamini,Hleb, Rosicky and a
host of others all showed potential which only leaves me salivating for
what's to come next season.

Admittedly, the team let in one too many goals which evntually took its toll.
I keep wondering how the season would have turned out if we'd not conceded
that penalty in the final seconds @ birmingham and also secured a draw @
stamford brigde and Old trafford.

Now that Flamini's gone and Hleb's also rumoured to be one his way out,
I do hope Wenger has identified adequate replacements for them, with an
added 3 to 4 players to boost overall squad strenght.

Next season promises to be exciting and I just can't wait for it to start.

Up GUNNERZ!!!

Keeping a Cool Head

All or most of us know something or have had to say something on this subject at a point during our lifetimes( I'm talking about grown-ups here not kiddies!). But how many of us really do manage to keep it/cool steady when the moment of temptation comes?

We may try to mediate in disputes at times and implore feuding parties to calm down at heated moments but do we ourselves really put a lid on our outbursts?

Just got off the phone with my sister this evening(she actually cut the line), and i really "lost it" in the course of our conversation.

She actually called earlier and I told her to hold on 'cos I couldn't take the call @ that particular moment. I then cut the line. She called back later seemingly pissed that I cut the phone and that was where things got heated.

I accused her of alwys putting me on the defensive everytime and not giving me time to explain myself. . . . . .blah..blah. . . . . . .and the line went . . . . . . . . . . .

So much for keeping a cool head.

Living In Lagos

Born and bred in Lagos, I refuse to subscribe to the notion that life in that city is burdensome and often times stressful.

My cousins have vowed times without number that nothing would make them move from the relative serenity of thier current abode to Lagos. Good luck to them.

For me I don't see myself exchanging my beloved city of Lagos for any other city in Nigeria.
Simply put, I'm addicted!

I mean, in what other city will u leave home 3 hours ahead of schedule just to make that important appointment?

In what other City would u have Public servants[The police}, and even the services industry in general insult u in the process of carrying out a service due to u?

In what other city would u find a complete coagulation of multi-ethnic groups functioning together as a unit?

Lagos is unique, a city amongst cities. While truly not for the faint hearted, has just barely enough room to accomodate all and sundry.

I love my city of Lagos!!!
